It's 2025 — video game music is no longer locked to a game's sound test mode or hard-to-find physical media (mostly). It's also on streaming services. One of the goals for Soundtest.FM is to be a resource of knowledge and reference for video game music, and to help achieve that goal, we now have a public Spotify account for tracking and cataloging any video game music on the platform. Other streaming platforms are also planned.
The "Video Game Music" playlist will be the primary one to put all video game music in. As of this writing, it's already at 6,780 songs, and I expect it to end up quite long.
To help with discovery and management of so many songs, we will try to categorize into other playlists, such as by company. Check out our playlists for SEGA and ATLUS.
Of course, there will also be playlists per game series, like Sonic the Hedgehog, or NiGHTS into Dreams....
These 5 playlists are just the start, and there is so much more to search through. You can keep up with our progress by following us on Spotify. I would like this to be a community effort as well, so if you find something that is missing or have any ideas, you can let us know in the comments below, message us on Bluesky, or email us at contact@soundtest.fm. Your help is appreciated!
