This Indie Composer Faithfully Recreated A Sonic Song From Scratch

Sounds spot-on!

I recently stumbled upon a YouTuber and musician by the name of Nuclear [NUKELEDGE], who creates videos related to video game music, composition, and audio production. One of Nuclear's recent uploads goes over replicating the guitar part from the Sonic Adventure 2 song "Advertise: SA2 ...in the groove" (the story select track) from scratch. I was blown away by the accuracy and technical process of this recreation, from the ability to make a MIDI electric guitar sound real, to the subtle effects of fret mutes and vox chords.

For the guitar, we'll be using Metal-GTX, which is a free library for sforzando.

This video will cover tone creation and some programming techniques.

This was made with the audio production software FL Studio using only free stock plugins. You can (and should!) watch the whole process and hear the final result in the video below.

For comparison, here is the original song from the Sonic Adventure 2 soundtrack. You can hear just how close Nuclear's version is to Jun Senoue's recording.

Nuclear has many other interesting VGM videos that you can watch on their YouTube channel. If you enjoy their content, you can show your support by donating to them on Ko-fi or subscribing to them on YouTube.
